Course objectives

This course proposal is part of Decree-Law No. 43/2014, of 18 March, which aims to expand and diversify the range of higher education training offer in Portugal, improving the level of professional qualifications and expanding the number of citizens with increased skills in terms of training and knowledge. The work-based training component and the interaction with regional organizations, for-profit or not-for-profit, materialize the objectives of the creation of this type of courses. The Course includes a set of curricular units that aim to provide a good preparation for entry into the labor market, in terms of Management support, and includes a 600-hour internship of work in an organizational context.

Learning objectives and skills to be developed

The Higher Professional Technical Course (CTeSP) in Management Advisory aims to prepare professionals who can advise managers at different levels, especially at the intermediate and top levels, in a more operational and executive perspective, and less decision-making and strategic. In addition, they will be able to provide technical contributions that help those who have effective management functions to consider and make decisions. The exercise of Management functions has several aspects and levels depending on the physical and economic size of the Organization, its legal typology, the complexity of the main activity, the presence in a greater or lesser number of markets, the structure implemented, the organizational culture and, not least, the strategic vision of its founders and/or capital holders, translated into the Mission that has been defined.
Whether they are managers at the level of functions within the scope of a Board of Directors or Management Board, at the departmental level or at the central management level or at the more operational level, there is always the responsibility to combine resources of different categories, allocating them to the tasks to be developed, executing processes and allowing the systemic functioning of the Organization. The concern with issues essentially of a strategic nature, at a higher hierarchical level, or essentially of a more operational nature, at lower hierarchical levels of the organizational pyramid, does not fail to imply attention to conceptual and technical skills, simultaneously with the optimization of the use of resources in favor of maximizing results, in a perspective of effectiveness and efficiency, that is increasingly imposing itself in the contemporary world.

Career opportunities

Professional Certification level 5 in Management Advice allows the exercise of technical functions at the intermediate level of the structure, in the different professional areas; adviser to the board and/or other administrative structures of the organization; admnistrative technician; advisor in human resources, finance, communication, public relations, among other functional areas of the organization.

Recognition of prior learning

Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the Academic Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.

Admission and entry requirements

Hold secondary education or equivalent, which includes the subject of Economics or Portuguese; Holder of M23 Exams for access to the course; Holder of a technological specialization diploma, a higher professional technician diploma or a higher education degree.
