  • Course objectives

    This course aims to prepare professionals capable of:

    - Plan and schedule construction work on building sites, proposing construction processes and optimising site layout;
    - Coordinate documents to support work on site, such as specifications, tender proposals, projects and health and safety plans, in order to make cost estimates, measurements, budgets and work plans;
    - Coordinating and controlling the quality and reception of materials and production processes on site, taking into account the project and environmental, quality and safety requirements;
    - Implementing health and safety plans on construction sites, encouraging good practice in the use of protective equipment and identifying training needs;
    - Coordinating and supervising the execution of construction works, ensuring that deadlines and costs are met by optimising the resources needed for the work, managing quality and reorganising work in the event of errors, omissions and unforeseen circumstances;
    - Coordinating and supervising the work of production teams in accordance with the production plan and quality control of the work;
    - Manage activities on different types of works based on architectural and speciality projects;
    - Controlling and assessing the quality of structures, taking into account the quality of execution and structural safety criteria.

    The Higher Professional Technical Course in Civil Construction is geared towards the current demands for human resources to support activities in the Civil Construction and Public Works sector, namely in the planning and management of works. The Higher Professional Technical Course in Civil Construction aims to contribute to the training of specialised middle managers, particularly in the Lisbon region and the Setúbal Peninsula, in order to guarantee an improvement in the quality of construction and the technical competence of companies in the sector.

    Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the Academic Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.

  • Admission and entry requirements

    Hold a secondary education qualification or equivalent, which includes the subject of Mathematics; hold the M23 exams for access to the course; or hold a technological specialisation diploma, a higher vocational technical diploma or a higher education degree.
