    The Master's Degree in Accounting and Finance aims to provide a deepening and understanding of the theory and practice of Accounting and Finance, linking theory and practice and exploring topics in these areas from the point of view of those who will use financial information to evaluate and manage the performance of companies. The curricular units are developed with the aim of providing fundamental knowledge for the performance of functions of financial controller, accountant, financial analyst, financial consultant, among others, in an integrated way.

    The Master's Degree in Accounting and Finance contributes to the training of professionals who wish to specialize in Accounting and Finance and to professionals who perform financial functions in organizations that operate in differentiated and constantly changing environments. Articulating with the 1st cycle training offer, the proposed study plan assumes its complementary character in view of the objectives of this same higher education course in Accounting and Finance, allowing, simultaneously, the continuation of studies, the deepening of knowledge and skills by graduates in the areas of accounting and finance or related, as well as other professionals who work in the area.
    Organized on a semester basis, corresponding to 120 credits (ECTS), the study plan comprises a one-year teaching part consisting of eight curricular units in each semester. The 2nd year is intended for the development of an applied research work or internship complemented with a curricular unit of Research Methods and Techniques in Accounting and Finance, as support for the preparation of the dissertation/project report/internship report. The curricular units are developed with the aim of providing the consolidation of specific skills in each of the specializations – Accounting and Finance – from the reinforcement of general skills in the area of business sciences that provide the integration and global perspective of the professional activities they will develop.

    Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the Academic Regulations of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.

  • Admission and entry requirements

    All those who have the following conditions, in the areas of Accounting and Finance, Management or other related areas, can apply to the MCF: a) Holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent; b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process; c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the bachelor's degree by the Technical-Scientific Council of ESCE; d) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting to the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the Technical-Scientific Council of ESCE.
