  • Course objectives

    The objectives of the Master's Degree were designed according to the recommended indicators of level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework, in harmony with the European Qualification Standards for Logistics Professionals, of the European Logistics Association. It is intended that trainees acquire advanced knowledge in the area in order to: Identify and analyze the strategic challenges and impacts of sustainability in Supply Chain Management; Select and operationalize Supply Chain planning tools;
    Structure and apply end-to-end cost and performance monitoring metrics, with a focus on profitability; Analyze and define solutions to the challenges of online commerce and omnichannel distribution; Develop and consolidate advanced logistics operations management skills; Deepen and operationalize the principles of distribution networks, aiming at efficiency and customer service; Anticipate the needs to adapt to emerging technologies; Conceptually develop and apply Data Analytics; Make management decisions valuing people's contribution to organizational objectives.

    The Master's Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is the result of a partnership between ESCE/IPS and Modelo Continente SGPS and follows the best international practices, with an admission regime that respects vocational guidance, with a flexible study program. It adopts an interdisciplinary and systemic view of logistics processes, combined with a leadership and people management component, which allows the development of professionals, providing them with technical and behavioral skills. It integrates skills associated with technological innovation, promoting the ability to deal with emerging challenges, associated with disruption and digital transformation, to which companies have to adapt.
    The study cycle was designed to operate according to the Project-Based Learning model, an active model centered on the student and which confers a strong degree of autonomy, practical and tutorial character. It is organized in 4 quarters with 3 Curricular Units (CU), for each of the first 3 trimesters, and an Internship/Project CU to be carried out over the 4 trimesters. The Internship/Project takes place throughout the course. This format aims to articulate the new skills of the students, combining the theoretical and practical concepts taught in the UC with their application in a real work context.
    The Internship/Project can have an internship format, where the student will have an integration within the organization, in full working hours, or an autonomous project format developed by the organization's worker in his area of activity or related area. Organized on a quarterly basis, corresponding to 60 credits (ECTS), the study plan comprises four parts: in the 1st trimester it is intended to provide structuring knowledge in logistics management and information technologies; in the 2nd quarter, skills in supply chain management, human resources management and information technologies will be developed; in the 3rd quarter, skills in supply chain management and information technologies will be developed; Finally, in the 4th quarter it will be to finalize the project that is transversal throughout all quarters.
