Course objectives
The course aims to develop a set of advanced and specialized skills on marketing management that allow graduates to accelerate their professional development and a greater contribution to the development of the organizations and projects where they carry out their professional activity and to society. In specific terms, it aims to provide master's degrees with highly specialized knowledge in the scientific area of marketing, especially the areas of greatest relevance/demand in the labor market and of interest to potential students; assume a professional nature by completing a 1st cycle training, preferably from the area of management, with previous knowledge of marketing;
develop skills that allow them to face complex professional contexts, integrating different knowledge, critical analysis, research capacity, systematization and evaluation of alternatives, decision-making capacity and search for original solutions, in the face of unexpected situations or diversified contexts; strengthen the necessary skills that allow a high professional performance of students in this area of training. -

Learning objectives and skills to be developed
The Master's Degree in Marketing Management assumes a clear professionalizing nature, responding to the challenges posed to the Marketing of organizations, while allowing the pursuit of studies for Graduates, deepening and adding instrumental, interpersonal and systemic skills. Specifically, it is intended to provide master's students with highly specialized knowledge in the scientific area of Marketing, complementing the first cycle training. The integration of different knowledge, research capacity, critical analysis, systematization, evaluation of alternatives and decision in the face of unexpected situations or diversified contexts will be valued.
As well as reinforcing relational aspects (teamwork and coordination), the ability to present, argue, debate and the search for greater assertiveness. Organized on a semester basis, corresponding to 120 credits (ECTS), the study plan comprises a one-year teaching part consisting of 15 curricular units (8 in the first semester and 7 in the second semester). The second year is intended for the development of an applied research work or internship. The curricular units are developed with the aim of providing the consolidation of specific skills in the area of marketing management, based on the reinforcement of general skills in the area of business sciences that provide the integration and global perspective of the professional activities they will develop. -

The Master's career paths include the exercise of functions like Marketing Management, design and implementation of Marketing projects and plans, design and development of brands, Marketing consultancy, management of commercial teams, market research, design and development of internationalization strategies.

All those who have the following conditions, in the areas of Marketing, Management or other related areas, can apply for the Master's Degree in Marketing Management: - Holders of a Bachelor's degree or legal equivalent; b) - Holders of a foreign higher academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process; - Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the Bachelor's degree by the statutorily competent scientific body of the higher education institution where they intend to be admitted; Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal Page 4 of 8 d) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting to the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the statutorily competent scientific body of the higher education institution where they intend to be admitted.
