Course objectives
Data Corner, an official member of the Pack for Skills and EIT Deep Tech Initiative under the European Commission (EC), whose participation with the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, within the scope of the SONDA2026 project, in offering this training proposal aims to contribute to the EC's goal of retraining one million deep tech professionals in Europe by 2025.
Together with short project-based courses in data engineering and data science, this course is designed for a target audience interested in acquiring practical skills in these three categories of data analysis in a short period of time (3-4 months) and using them to deal with real-world problems.
In addition, participants in these training courses will have an online profile on the Elites Galaxy platform, which is recognised by the European Commission's Pact for Skills programme as an innovative social network for lifelong learning.
This course is designed for an audience with some knowledge of data analysis who are interested in improving their skills in techniques related to data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, data visualisation, building interactive dashboards, and producing insights that aid in data-driven decision-making. The course is based on project execution, providing participants with practical experience in applying these techniques in real-world scenarios. Participants will be trained to work in teams to solve typical data analysis project challenges, presented in hands-on training sessions.
Data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, and Python) will be used to learn how to build interactive data analysis dashboards. The fundamentals of the data analysis project life cycle will be presented, from data collection to the presentation of results. By the end of the course, participants will be able to clean and analyse data, apply techniques to create effective data visualisations
and present insights to support data-driven decision-making, with a focus on organisations with a data-driven culture. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a data analysis hackathon, which will allow them to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills to solving real-world problems using data analysis techniques. -
